Peyton Hayes was born with a complex congenital heart defect. He was expected to live less than 24 hours but after 5 open heart surgeries he lived 16 years. As Peyton grew he was faced with many challenges but with the love and support of family and friends he was able to overcome most of them. In his 9th grade English class Peyton wrote a bio. Peyton said, “when I grow up I want to help kids with cardiac conditions and their families.” “I want those families to have the support that I have always had.” In September of 2016, Peyton was laid to rest. Peyton did not lose his fight, he won in the way he lived his life and inspired others!
The goal of this foundation is to raise money through a yearly event to help 2 families in need. A family from the University of Iowa and a family from St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids will be chosen by the cardiac unit social workers. Medical bills, even with insurance can be very stressful, and parking at some places can cost more than $20.00 per day. We are hopeful that this donation can ease some financial stress so that the families can focus their efforts on healing their little superheroes.
This year’s event will be held on October 14th, 2017 at Eastern Iowa Builders in Fairfax. Starting at noon we will kick off a bags tournament. The entry fee will be $50.00 with all proceeds going to a little superheroes family. Tournament winners will be awarded prizes and door prizes will be drawn all day, that’s where you come in. If you are interested in donating to support this event please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org by September 15th. Thank you for your consideration.
